Job Description

We are looking for a Petroleum Inspector with at least 3 years of mandatory experience working at the Ruwais Refinery.

  • Perform quantity determinations according to industry standards for various commodities, including petroleum products and crude, in various containers, such as shore tanks, vessel tanks, ISO tanks/drums, and tank trucks.
  • Conduct sampling as per industry standards, with knowledge of various sampling methods, including running, all-level, spot, upper/middle/lower, and dead bottom. Well-versed in the different types of samplers utilized in the petroleum industry.
  • Conduct inspections of petrochemicals, collecting samples for laboratory analysis, retention, and clients.
  • Physically measure and record the temperature of shore tanks using various methods in accordance with company and API procedures.
  • Calculate and report transferred quantities, conducting thorough reconciliations, and capable of performing voyage analysis.
  • Work in cooperation with client’s representatives, vessel agents, vessel personnel, expeditors, superintendents, government agents/authorities, and shore facility personnel to ensure accurate results are achieved.
  • Maintain regular communication with office staff with reference to job status, problems, concerns, etc.

Qualifications

  • Engineering, or equivalent bachelor's degree + 7 Years of Core petroleum inspection experience.
  • Mandatory 3+ Years of working experience in Ruwais refinery and jetty handling of petroleum and Crude / LPG / LNG / Urea / Sulphur Etc... 
  • Familiar with industry standards, such as API/HM, in the petroleum sector.
  • Preferred to have valid IFIA Petroleum Inspector Certification  
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information and respond to queries, both within and outside the organization.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics, including the ability to interpolate calculations for trim, list, and VCF calculations. Must be capable of interpreting ship calibration tables in both Imperial and Metric systems.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Physically fit to work in confined spaces if needed after training.
    • Physically fit and able to climb storage tank ladders and stairs, typically 25 to 35 meters in height.
    • Physically fit and able to climb vessel gangways, stairs, pilot ladder, etc.
    • Capable of carrying up to 6-7 kg of samples, gear, or equipment.
    • Capable to work in adverse weather conditions such as rain, heat, cold etc.
    • Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
    • Must NOT be color blind.
    • Ready to shave (clean shave face) as the working site requires using a face mask for safety purposes.
  • Safety Compliance: Willingness to adhere to safety requirements, including the use of safety equipment like SCBA and respirators if necessary.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate extended hours, evening, weekend, and holiday work based on SGS and customer needs.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Other Requirements: No phobias related to water, heights, or tolerable smells of working commodities. Must be willing to travel by boat, helicopter, or GA aircraft as needed.
