The Opportunity:
AIA is building a new modern data and analytics platform using Azure Databricks and Power BI. We are seeking a Technical Delivery lead – BI and Analytics to join our Technology team and lead our project team of 4-5 people.
Within this role you will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, helping define requirements, driving design, development and implementation of fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions.
This role will report into the Head of Data Platforms and Analytics and the successful candidate can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
To do this successfully you will:
Business Intelligence and analytics solutions: - Partner closely with Business stakeholders and BI and analytics teams within business and provide input to define comprehensive BI and analytics solutions, that offer actionable insights to all levels of the organization
Technical Delivery Management - Take responsibility for delivery of fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions, by working closely with Project Managers
Governance and Standardisation: - Establish templates, standards, and guidelines for report developers in both IT and business units.
BI and Analytics platform ownership: - Take responsibility for the maintenance and stability of the reporting and analytics environment. Lead the resolution of operational issues and ensure the platform's reliability. Ensure quality and completeness of application and platform documentation.
Collaboration and Partnership - Collaborate with Business stakeholders to define and build impactful BI and analytics solutions.
Team Leadership: - Lead and mentor a team of Business Intelligence Analysts (on-shore and offshore) in development of best practice in business intelligence and analytics
To be successful in this position you will have:
Experience working within a delivery and operational role in BI and analytics within life insurance, general insurance or health insurance
A solid understanding of Power BI, Data visualization practices, and underlying data engineering and modelling
Experience in reporting within life insurance domain – covering claims, policy, underwriting would be highly regarded
Proven experience in independently leading the technical delivery of a team of BI engineers, both onshore and offshore, while effectively managing delivery risks and issues
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong people leadership skills or an interest in becoming a people leader
The ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing Business intelligence team.
Migration experience from Cognos and Tableau to Power BI will be highly regarded
