Automation Project Engineer - OpenBleu -

What You Will Do:

Our HVAC/ Industrial Refrigeration Automation Engineering group has an immediate opening for a full-time, direct hire, hybrid role supporting Operations and Service Teams.

In this role, you will provide automation software support and work closely with electrical project engineers, for HVAC and Iref installations. You will also take on responsibility to drive the OpenBlue initiative, working with colleagues and customers towards ensuring connection of JCI equipment in new and existing customer systems, to our OpenBlue Enterprise Manager monitoring and communication software.

The goal of OpenBlue connectivity in this field is to view, collect and analyze data from installed JCI equipment and systems, to get actionable insights to improve efficiency, performance, preventative maintenance and service offering as a whole.

You will be directly involved in automation software preparation, onsite and remote system integration and support for HVAC and Iref systems control logic.
Working together with colleagues across departments, you will also seek to identify areas of engineering improvements, support innovative ideas, and generate solutions based on cost, schedule, and technical merit.


How You Will Do It:

You will be involved in design of automation hardware configurations, assisting with commissioning on location, executing or assisting with IO testing – maintaining contact with customers and Johnson Controls colleagues.
You will use commercially available program and engineering software along with proprietary in-house engineering configuration tools to plan and develop tools to streamline workflows. 
With a focus on the OpenBlue initiative and with support and communication with other OpenBlue champions throughout Europe branches, you will drive the wider implementation of installation and monitoring software throughout the Johnson Controls install base.

What We Look For:

Required :

  • Bachelors (BS) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience, in a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable experience.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMS, and Outlook or similar.
  • Experience with Siemens hardware and software is a requirement.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (Dutch and English).
  • Flexible and autonomous; able to work in a team, or with minimal supervision.
  • Pro-active and customer-oriented approach to communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to read electrical circuit and P&ID diagrams.
  • Electric/electronically inclined, with readiness to develop in the field of control technology.

Preferred :

  • Experience with thermodynamics and the refrigeration cycle.
  • Experience working with 3D CAD models and 2D Drawings using Autodesk or similar.
  • Desire to work on an international team.
  • Additional languages (eg: French) are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Control Programming Languages beneficial.
  • Communication protocol Modbus, BACnet, Profinet and Profibus.
  • ERP and CRM experience (e.g., Oracle 11i, Salesforce) beneficial.
