THE JOB: Accountant (18 Month Contract)
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $80,066 - $100,083
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant works within the FMB Department on a team of 30 staff. The Accountant will be responsible for most aspects of accounting for the Doctors of BC and/or its Government Funded Programs (Programs) as well as preparing lead sheets and working papers for the year-end audits while liaising with external auditors.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Most aspects of accounting and preparation of financial statements for Doctors of BC and/or its Government funded programs.
Reconciles general ledger accounts/funding and follows up on any discrepancies with staff while reporting areas of concerns.
Maintains capital asset continuity and prepaid expense schedules for the Doctors of BC and/or its Programs.
Liaises with department staff regarding financial related transactions and processes to ensure reporting and variance analysis is accurate.
Reviews weekly invoices, staff expenses and corporate credit card batches for Doctors of BC and/or its Programs.
Responds to staff enquiries regarding expense policies and procedures.
Provides refresher one-on-one training on Expensify (expense claims software) for staff upon request.
Prepares lead sheets and working papers for the year end audits. Liaising with external auditors and preparing various analyses as required.
Participates in digital transformation projects as requested, as automation of payment for the various types of expenses are implemented, including being involved in creating reporting in the new software.

WHAT YOU BRING
A CPA accounting designation plus 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Knowledge of financial and accounting (NetSuite and Planful preferred) systems.
High level of computer literacy including comprehension of Windows based systems, advanced Excel skills, and email.
Internet capabilities; understanding of web-based processes.
Fluent in English.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform multiple tasks, balance priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
