WinGD is looking for a
Emissions Compliance Expert
Responsibilities:
Develop processes and documentation required by regulators for demonstration of initial and lifetime compliance:
Requirements for certification and extended documentation material according to MARPOL Annex VI updates
Requirements for certification / approval for products subject to other regulations (EPA, country-specific provisions applying to stationary engines, …)
Translate regulatory requirements into development actions:
Initiate and coordinate investigations into the establishment of reference emission levels for the existing product and technology portfolio
Support the assessment of the potential for emissions reduction of new technologies
Ensure the proper consideration of regulatory requirements in the development and implementation of engine tuning concepts
Support Senior Expert Regulatory Affairs in:
Establishment of WinGD position towards further development of emissions standards by regulators
Negotiation with other industry stakeholders for aligning on common position in this context
Lobbying for WinGD / common industry position in discussions with other relevant stakeholders and with regulatory bodies such as the IMO.
General Responsibilities:
Follow safe work procedures, report unsafe conditions or incidents and be prepared to respond in the event of a workplace injury or emergency.
Check Time Management System until the 5th of the following month
Accountabilities:
Target-oriented compliance documentation and certification guidance for engine manufacturers
Engine tuning concepts compliant with regulatory provisions
Internal Stakeholders:
Engine Performance and Automation & Control departments (key stakeholders for translation and documentation responsibility)
Requirements
General Skills and competencies:
Strong communication and networking skills
Good teamplayer but also willing and able to work independently
Structured way of working
Good powers of comprehension, specifically with respect to implications of regulatory text on technology and vice versa
Professional Skills:
Good understanding of engine performance and emissions: Fundamentals of combustion and emissions formation, correlation of design / operational features / parameters and key performance characteristics / emissions
Knowledge of large two-stroke engine technology, including tools and technologies applied in the development of such engines
Good understanding of regulatory processes and ability to extract relevant information from regulatory text / draft meaningful regulatory text
Relevant experience (three years or more) in product development and / or engineering environment
Professional experience in regulatory affairs management welcome
