MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines.
METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.
The Gas Forward Trader will be responsible for managing and executing trading strategies in forward gas markets, contributing to portfolio optimization and market positioning within the Gas Trading team. This role requires in-depth knowledge of European gas markets, strong analytical capabilities, and a track record of delivering results in forward trading.
Job Description
Develop and execute trading strategies in European forward gas markets
Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and price drivers to identify trading opportunities
Optimize forward gas portfolios in coordination with power trading and cross-commodity opportunities
Manage hedging activities and structured products linked to gas market dynamics
Leverage advanced analytics, models, and data tools to support trading decisions and forecast market movements
Collaborate with origination, risk management, and analytics teams to align trading strategies with company objectives
Maintain and build relationships with market participants, including exchanges, brokers, and clients
Stay updated on regulatory and policy changes impacting gas markets
Qualifications
Degree in a quantitative discipline
5 - 10 years of experience in forward gas trading, with a strong understanding of European gas markets and their interconnection with power markets
Proficiency in analysing gas market fundamentals, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical influences
Advanced quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Python, R, or other relevant programming languages is a plus
Familiarity with trading platforms and exchanges such as ICE, PEGAS, or similar
Strong risk management skills and the ability to operate within defined risk limits
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with internal and external stakeholders
