Senior Electronics Design Engineer

The role of the Senior Electronics Design Engineer is to develop and test custom Printed Circuit Board (PCB) prototypes for various robotic applications. Key responsibilities include driving component selection, conducting schematic capture, prototyping, verification, debugging and testing. It also involves making improvements and conducting failure root cause analysis to existing PCB boards in order to optimise designs. The role also requires proficiency in developing test plans, performing functional and performance verification and conducting PCB rework to facilitate testing and failure analysis.

This role includes among others:

  • Design, develop and test Printed Circuit Board (PCB) prototypes and custom hardware solutions according to project specifications
  • Drive component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, verification, debugging, documentation and testing
  • Conduct constraint-driven, high-frequency and low-noise multi-layer PCB designs
  • Perform failure root cause analysis, present results and provide feedback to optimise existing designs
  • Conduct functional and performance verification of new designs using laboratory test equipment, custom instrumentation and test setups
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on PCB designs to evaluate and quantify safety integrity levels (SIL) and performance levels (PL) of safety-related functions dependent on hardware reliability
  • Develop test plans to validate electronic systems against design requirements and specifications
  • Perform PCB rework to support testing and failure analysis
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams including software, firmware, mechanical, integration and testing
  • Exposure to all stages of the design cycle: initial concept, specification, implementation and testing, documentation and support

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's, diploma or MSc/MEng degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • More than 5 years of proven experience in developing multi-layer electronics boards for the commercial, telecom or industrial sector
  • PCB design experience using any of the industry-standard CAD tools (Altium, Cadence, Mentor, KiCad, Eagle)
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of analog and digital electronics
  • Familiarity with standard test and measurement laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, signal analyzers, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Communicative and team-oriented spirit

Desirable

  • Experience in soldering
  • Knowledge of analog circuit simulators
