Audio Video Design Engineer II

Work Location: Remote, Ireland

We are seeking a self-driven professional, skilled and detail-oriented Audio Video Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting audio-visual systems for various applications such as corporate environments, entertainment venues, educational institutions, and residential projects. This role involves collaborating with clients, project managers, and installation teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality AV solutions that meet the specific requirements, standards and commissioning of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design:

  • Design audio-visual systems based on client requirements, project scope, and industry standards.
  • Create detailed CAD drawings, signal flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Specify equipment such as displays, projectors, sound systems, video conferencing tools, control systems, and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to read architectural and construction drawings.
  • Ability to prioritize customer support and drawing accuracy.
  • Ability to draft audiovisual equipment lists and basic signal flow sketches.
  • Requires working knowledge of commercial construction environments (power, conduit, core drills).
  • Create accurate bill of materials.

Client Consultation:

  • Conduct site surveys to assess environmental and technical needs.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand objectives and recommend solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and propose AV solutions that meet budget and performance expectations.
  • Requires customer service-oriented mind set.
  • Requires strong verbal and presentation skills.
  • Requires strong writing skills necessary to communicate effectively and professionally.

Project Coordination:

  • Work with project managers to develop project timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure proper equipment installation and configuration.
  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure functionality meets design specifications.
  • Documentation and Support:
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings, equipment lists, and user manuals.
  • Provide training to clients and end-users on system operation and maintenance.
  • Offer technical support for existing installations and troubleshoot system issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Audio Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in designing and implementing AV systems for commercial or residential applications.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, , Vectorworks, BIM360, Revit) and other AV design tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AVIXA, Dante, Crestron, Extron, or similar certifications.
  • Strong understanding of AV signal flow, networking, and control system programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AVIXA CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
  • Experience with AV over IP solutions, DSP programming (Biamp, QSC and Symetrix), and video wall design.
  • Knowledge of audio acoustics and room calibration techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with audiovisual equipment such as mixers, amplifiers, digital signal processors, and control systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Based remote.
  • Ability to work on-site at client locations as needed.
  • Occasionally lift and move AV equipment.
  • Travel may be required for project meetings and site surveys.
