HEAnet - Services Architecture Manager
HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Services Architecture Manager to join our Services Architecture Team on a permanent full-time basis.
This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the Services Architecture Team does
The Service Architecture team lead the design, build and integration work for services within HEAnet’s portfolio of technical services. The team works closely day to day with the Network and Systems Engineers on wider teams within the Technical Services Function.
What the Services Architecture Manager does
Reporting to the Technical Services Head of Function, the Service Architecture Manager manages a team of Technical Architects, ensuring services developed by the team are high quality, meet our standards and comply with our policies and are in overall good state prior to being handed over to operational teams for service delivery.
Day-to-day tasks involve coaching the team through challenges that arise and ensuring incident escalations and feature requests are handled by the team. Longer-term duties include ensuring the team are focused on their longer-term performance objectives and that those objectives align with company strategy, adjusting objectives where needed. A key responsibility of the Services Architecture Manager is chairing the HEAnet internal Engineering Standards Group which approves services prior to entering production status.
