Wood is currently recruiting an Assistant Tax Manager  to support the Tax Director – Europe in all direct and indirect tax compliance as well as in the commercial tax matters. 

The ideal candidate must be a proven team player, who is comfortable directly liaising at all levels to ensure the business is supported by being compliant with Transfer Pricing, VAT and CIT matters.

The role will include also a support to the Tax Director – Europe to manage the Commercial Tax advice process for the region as provided by the Group Tax policy, dealing with cross border contracts in a complex business and strictly coordinating with other Tax functions involved in the process.

The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role

The role will include also a strong support to the Tax Director – Europe with the Transfer Pricing compliance for some entities in the Region as well as with the VAT and CIT compliance for identified entities of the Group.  An awareness of the impact of Pillar II on the Group entities will be part of the role evaluation. 

The ideal candidate must be a proven self-starter, who is comfortable directly liaising at all levels to ensure the business is supported in proposing the most tax efficient commercial tax structure and the identified entities are compliant with Transfer Pricing, VAT and CIT compliance

The key objectives for this role are:

  • Management of the preparation and submission of VAT, CIT, WHT and other returns for the identified entities. The candidate should have good and proven experience in tax accounting, tax compliance and indirect tax. 
  • Management of the preparation and submission process for identified entities’ transfer pricing compliance including review of local files, master files, and other transfer pricing documentation prepared by the external provider
  • Implement process automation to drive efficiencies and manage risk
  • Conduct tax research and stay updated on changes in tax legislation
    • Foreign tax credit for assignees
    • queries from the business;
    • tax audits; and
    • intercompany transactions.
  • Assist the Tax Director – Europe in tax related matters including: 
  • Support to the Tax Director – Europe for the preparation and submission of the group’s commercial tax advice for cross border contracts in coordination with Group Tax function and the Tax Director – Region
