Chemist in R&D Analytical Department

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Are you an experienced chemist with a meticulous approach to analytical challenges? Jotun's Analytical Department is a global support function located at Jotun’s HQ in Sandefjord, Norway. We're seeking a chemist to join our multicultural team of 9 people.

We work with the whole range of Jotun development, from technology, innovation to following up existing products and solutions. This makes for a very varied workday where you go from seeing the big picture, down to the smallest molecule. We believe many chemistry professions can fit in, but you need a keen eye for details and wanting to understand what makes paint thick.

Do you have some of these acronyms already under your belt; FTIR, NMR, Pyrolysis GC-MS, HS-GC, SEM-EDX, GPC with triple detection and LC-UV? And would you like to expand your repertoire of analytical techniques and combine data to understand the full picture? We would like to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Analysis and characterization of paint products and related samples using a wide range of analytical techniques.
  • Collaboration with colleagues in technology and innovation projects to develop new Jotun products
  • Support other chemists and production in maintaining existing products with analytical tasks at hand, big or small.
  • Maintain and develop the service areas for the department by evaluating new techniques and gathering knowledge within the field of analytical chemistry and paint characterization.
  • Participate in regular tasks for the department laboratory such as HSEQ, 5S activities and instrument control/maintenance
