Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and make a visible difference in your city? Napier City Council is on the hunt for a skilled and motivated Water Serviceperson to join our busy Services team on fixed term basis.

In this hands-on role, you’ll be leading the charge on maintaining and operating Napier’s water reticulation networks—keeping clean, reliable water flowing across the city. It’s a role that’s vital, varied, and valued. This role will include everything involved in keeping our city’s water running to our customers. From fixing leaks, installing water connections, and keeping our water pump and treatment systems running.

Te Āheinga - The Opportunity

  • Assist in the efficient operation and maintenance of water reticulation networks
  • Promptly address customer service requests and provide comprehensive feedback to the Team Leader Water
  • Assist in the efficient operation of water reticulation networks
  • Lead the reinstatement works of jobs for your team and other departments
  • Identify and report significant faults promptly to the Team Leader Water
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant, vehicles, workplace, and tools for future use
  • Execute repairs and construction of concrete surfaces to high standards and in an efficient manner
  • Foster strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders related to city water supply

He kōrero mōhou - About You

  • National Certificate in Utilities Maintenance or Water Reticulation
  • Experience in constructing and maintaining water supply reticulation networks and components is essential
  • Prior experience with concrete and civil works and reinstatement is preferred
  • Understanding of traffic management procedures
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Capability to work in confined spaces
  • Valid, clean driver's license with heavy vehicle endorsement

This is a full-time, fixed-term role for 12 months, working Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.

Job Description – Water Serviceperson

Hourly Range - $28.96 - $30.81 (dependant on experience)
