Associate Director, International Recruitment

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Manu Tāiko - Associate Director, International Recruitment to join the Te Kahupapa - Wellington University International team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a key strategic role leading and driving immediate and sustained growth in student enrolment/acquisition.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Development: High-performing and collaborative international recruitment team who are professional and consistently achieve recruitment results. Team members are provided with the leadership, support and resources that will enable them to be effectively fulfil their roles.
  • Strategy, Planning, and Decision Making: International student recruitment activities are delivered effectively, targets are set using quality data and market intelligence, and robust plans in place to meet the recruitment targets.
  • Relationship Development: Relationships are productive, effective and contribute to the successful implementation of international education plans and student recruitment activities. Student enrolment growth targets are achieved.
  • Systems and Monitoring: High quality and accurate information and advice is provided on all areas of responsibility and to International Office staff. Staff performance is optimised, and student growth targets are achieved.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate Outcomes related to the areas of responsibility are met of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.

International travel is required for the role.

You will:

  • Possess deep knowledge of the international education industry and experience in working successfully with diverse groups including academic and professional staff.
  • Have proven expertise in international student recruitment operations, implementing marketing and recruitment plans with a strong sales ethos.
  • Demonstrate success in setting and achieving enrolment targets.
  • Have strong experience in leading and managing high performing, multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Be a strategic thinker, able to develop and implement complex operational plans.
  • Be able to set and manage budgets.
  • Possess a high level of EQ, able to engage at all levels with passion, clarity, and confidence.
