Associate General Counsel
The Associate General Counsel is expected to manage a wide range of legal matters and tasks and provide general advisory services to Qiddiya Park Operations LLC (QPO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Qiddiya Development Company and the operating company tasked with delivering all aspects of the Six Flags Theme Park and Aquarabia Water Park projects.
The [Associate General Counsel] is expected to function as a ‘trusted advisor’ and shall be able to effectively communicate and work with others at all levels within QPO’s operational and management teams, have strong negotiation and presentation skills, as well as have sound understanding and experience in corporate and transactional matters. In addition to their advisory responsibilities to QPO, this individual will form part of the larger QIC legal team and act as a regular liaison to the team on commercial, legal and risk matters as they may affect the broader Qiddiya project.
The role is a general advisory one in nature and would suit a senior corporate and commercial lawyer with experience in infrastructure projects work, work in the leisure sector and/or in the IT sector with a focus on customer-facing products and systems. The individual would need to be a credible and confident senior lawyer capable of driving good business practice throughout all working teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely: (a) legal advice, as required; and (b) responses to legal requests raised by other departments and/or subsidiaries.
- Support in the development and implementation of the Legal Department’s: (a) strategy and legal framework; and (b) processes aimed at avoiding regulatory/contract infringements as well as protecting QIC’s and/or its subsidiaries’ tangible and intangible assets.
- Lead transactions and matters from the Legal Department including, where necessary, managing external legal counsel and review their work product.
- Manage claims and disputes raised by or against QIC or its subsidiaries, with support, where required, from external legal counsel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law or related field (L.LB/MA).
- Master’s Degree in Law (LLM/Juris Doctorate).
- 8+ years of experience in a legal counsel role, preferably within the entertainment or construction sectors.
- Admission to practice law in KSA is preferred.
- Admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is highly desirable.
