Senior Area Safety Officer (Local PV)

This position reports to Area Safety Head and is based at our office in Solna, Stockholm.

What you will do

The Senior Area Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Local Operating Company (LOC) Safety activities related to all products are managed in compliance with local regulations and company policies/procedures at a local, regional, and global levels and in accordance with any product vigilance agreements with third party business partners. This role will act as the LOCs and assigned territories main point of contact for pharmacovigilance matters with the local health authority.

They will ensure that appropriate product vigilance and risk management systems are set in place to assure appropriate oversight of products within its responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee pharmacovigilance (PV) systems and vendor activities across the Nordics, UK and Ireland.
  • Support the Area Safety Head with local input for PV System Master Files and regulatory queries.
  • Monitor compliance and manage CAPAs for safety-related non-conformances.
  • Coordinate safety data reconciliation across internal teams and external partners.
  • Ensure timely identification, reporting, and submission of safety data (e.g., AEs, SUSARs, PSURs) to health authorities.
  • Maintain oversight of local literature screening and document archiving.
  • Stay up to date with local PV regulations and collaborate on global process updates.
  • Provide PV training and maintain awareness among local operating company (LOC) staff.
  • Contribute to audit and inspection readiness, including support during local inspections.
  • Manage local PV contracts and business continuity planning activities.

Qualifications

 

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in related field
  • 4+ years experience in a similar role and pharmaceutical industry experience, including product vigilance, with proven ability to organize workflow activities.
  • Sound knowledge of general medicine, pharmacy, and clinical practice, or another relevant scientific/medical field.
  • Awareness of and familiarity with industry principles of product vigilance, drug development, and pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of global, regional, and local procedural documents as applicable.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of relevant IT safety systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain open relationships within the organization and with authorities.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of all local requirements and of global aspects of product safety.
  • At least business fluent in both Swedish & English.
