WHO we’re looking for:
We are looking for a Senior Java J2EE Developer/Engineer who will be responsible for contributing to architecture, development, code quality, and team guidance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and build enterprise-grade backend solutions while mentoring junior team members and leading key technical initiatives

This is a hands-on engineering role and requires a combination of deep technical expertise with strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient backend services using Java (11/17+) and the Spring ecosystem.
  • Service Integration: Build RESTful and SOAP-based web services for internal and external system integration.
  • Architecture & Design: Contribute to technical architecture, design reviews, and selection of frameworks and tools.
  • Code Ownership: Own features end-to-end, from requirement analysis to production deployment and monitoring.
  • Mentorship: Guide and support junior developers via code reviews, design sessions, and pair programming.
  • Performance Optimization: Profile applications, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and tune systems across tiers.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with QA, DevOps, and Product teams to ensure delivery success.
  • Process Improvement: Drive engineering excellence by improving standards, tools, and workflows.

Required Experience and Education:

  • 8-9 years of hands-on Java Architecture experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Java (11 or higher): Strong understanding of OOP, multi-threading, collections, memory management.
  • J2EE Technologies: Servlets, JSP, EJB, JDBC, JMS, JNDI.
  • Spring Ecosystem: Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Security.
  • Web Services: REST (JAX-RS), SOAP (JAX-WS).
  • ORM Frameworks: Hibernate, JPA.
  • Messaging: JMS, Kafka, or ActiveMQ.
  • Microservices: Design and implementation of containerized microservices using Spring Boot.
DevOps & Infrastructure
  • CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness, Tekton, Bitbucket Pipelines.
  • IaC & Configuration Management: Terraform, Ansible.
  • Containerization & Deployment: Docker, OpenShift, ECS.
  • Secrets Management: HashiCorp Vault Build, Code Quality & Security.
  • Build Tools: Maven, Gradle.
  • Code Quality & Security: SonarQube, BlackDuck, secure coding practices.
  • Version Control: Git with strong understanding of branching and CI workflows
Database & Storage
  • Relational Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • SQL: Writing complex queries, performance tuning, indexing.
Testing & Automation.
  • Unit Testing: JUnit, Mockito.
  • Integration Testing: REST Assured, Postman, or equivalent.

Necessary Skills and Attributes:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with API documentation standards (Swagger/OpenAPI).
  • Authentication/Authorization: OAuth2, JWT, LDAP.
  • Exposure to modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of application servers (WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat).
  • Experience working in regulated domains such as finance, healthcare, or telecom.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology familiarity.
Coding and Leadership Expectations:
  • Allocate 80% of your time to hands-on development and technical delivery.
  • Lead code reviews, ensure adherence to engineering best practices and secure coding standards.
  • Actively mentor junior developers and foster a learning culture within the team.
  • Provide technical guidance during design sessions, project planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Champion reusability, scalability, and reliability in codebases and service design.

Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. May require working additional time beyond normal schedule and periodic travel.
