This position is a member of our Water Quality Division.

 

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Assist division management in overseeing projects, rules development, legislative activities, and the processing of permits and authorizations for the Water Quality Division (WQD) of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Oversee, monitor, and coordinate WQD projects, ensuring that division goals and deliverables are achieved, including special projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate and monitor the completion of required reports for the Division, including Permit Timeframe Tracking reports, LBB Performance Measure Quarterly Reports, Hot Issues Reports, Agenda Preparation, Federal Initiatives, and any audit reports. Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to determine the division’s overall performance. Work with staff to develop and implement solutions, as needed.
  • Assist Division responses to and tracking Media, Intergovernmental Relations, and upper management inquiries.
  • Assist the Division Rule Liaison as directed by the Deputy Director. Work with rule project manager(s) to ensure rules and general permits meet agency standard and deadlines. Assist Division management in overseeing the development and implementation of new or proposed legislation and legislative processes. Assist in responding to and tracking inquiries regarding legislative issues and concerns.
 

Qualifications

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in business, planning, environmental studies, accounting, computer science, related fields, or an area relevant to the position, plus six years of full-time experience conducting program and/or policy analysis work. 

One year of additional experience may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.  

A graduate degree in the above areas may substitute for one year of the required experience

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Management Analyst IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Management Analyst IV series.

 

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Quality Division.
