Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist Lead - RRT oversees and coordinates the Respiratory Therapy department's daily activities, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards. The Lead provides advanced respiratory care to patients, assists in developing departmental policies, and serves as a resource for other respiratory therapists. This role is responsible for mentoring staff, supporting clinical education, and ensuring that equipment and procedures meet regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Leads the daily operations of the respiratory therapy team, providing guidance, scheduling, and support as needed.
- Administers advanced respiratory treatments, performs assessments, and monitors patient responses to ensure effective care.
- Assists in developing and updating departmental policies and protocols to ensure best practices and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Serves as a resource and mentor for respiratory therapy staff, providing education, support, and training as needed.
- Evaluates and maintains respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring proper functioning, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards.
- Coordinates with healthcare teams to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required
- Experience in a lead or senior role preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support a team.
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills for patient care in complex clinical situations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards for respiratory care.
Licenses and Certifications
- RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
