Biostatistician IV - Atrium Health Office of Clinical and Translational Research Charlotte FT

JOB SUMMARY:  Collaborates independently with biomedical researchers in designing and implementing studies, analyzing data, and publishing results from research projects.  Assume primary responsibility for writing statistical design, methods, and analysis for research proposals.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:   Master's degree in Biostatistics or Statistics with seven years’ experience in statistics.  Experience in analyzing data using statistical package(s) required. Experience working in a biomedical environment preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborates independently or as co-investigator with other biomedical investigators and assists in developing objectives, designing sampling and randomization schemes, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives.
  2. Assumes major responsibilities on research projects, including administrative duties (e.g., budget preparation and justification, planning and/or proposing staffing patterns, coordinating training sessions).
  3. Assumes leadership responsibilities on committees, working groups, and research project teams including directing and/or supervising project personnel, coordinating quality control efforts, and serving on writing teams.
  4. Designs statistical analyses and report generation procedures for specific research studies, and write statistical methods and results sections of reports and publications.
  5. Develops the statistical design and planned analyses for research grant proposals and takes primary responsibility for writing statistical design, including sample size, and statistical considerations in grant proposals for faculty throughout the School.
  6. Applies for specific extramural grants (e.g., NIH R-O3, private foundation) as principal investigator.
  7. Prepares scientific manuscripts and abstracts including primary authorship of research papers.
  8. Makes oral presentations at professional/scientific meetings, workshops, and seminar series.
  9. Participates in teaching of statistics topics within graduate programs.
  10. Supervises the work of Biostatisticians I, II, III and Analyst/Programmers serving on the same projects.
  11. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to organize data and communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians

Ability to write statistical considerations for grant proposals
