Engineering Technician
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Testing
- Organize daily workload and prioritize activities within the Hydraulics Laboratory.
- Assemble and test prototype and production equipment according to specifications and procedures.
- Interpret engineering drawings, pipe and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and technical documents to construct accurate test setups.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures and rigs as needed to support testing requirements.
- Record and document test procedures, results, and observations thoroughly; report findings to project teams.
Product Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support product integration into manufacturing, service, and technical support functions.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and testing effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Service Engineers for customer visits, troubleshooting, assembly, and component verification.
- Analyze and report on the performance and condition of tested products and components.
Project Collaboration & Planning
- Participate in project planning activities, including estimation of testing timelines and resource needs.
- Ensure effective communication with cross-functional teams to meet testing objectives on schedule.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in line with company EH&S policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure proper operation of lab systems, including cooling water systems.
- Comply with all safety, documentation, and operational protocols.
Other Responsibilities
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Travel may be required on occasion.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education & Experience
- Technical degree or relevant experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or test engineering.
- Prior experience in a test lab or hands-on technical role, preferably involving hydraulic systems or industrial equipment.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with mechanical assembly, test rig design, and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in documenting test data and analyzing performance trends.
