Associate Jira Administrator

The Position
We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator with deep expertise in Atlassian tools, particularly Jira Software and Jira Service Management as well as administration. The successful candidate will play a critical role in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing our Jira environment to support the organization’s operational and project needs. This individual will partner closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to implement best practices, tailor Jira projects to business requirements, and ensure a secure, efficient, and user-friendly environment.

What You Will be Doing
- Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain Jira projects, workflows, custom fields, screens, issue types, notification schemes, and permission schemes across Jira Software and Jira Service Management environments.
- User Management: Administer user roles, groups, and access permissions. Maintain user directory integrations and enforce security protocols for access control.
- Workflow Management: Design, implement, and optimize workflows that reflect operational processes and support scalable project delivery.
- System Optimization: Monitor Jira performance and usage trends. Conduct system audits, clean up legacy configurations, and ensure long-term platform health.
- Integration and Automation: Work with Enterprise Applications team to configure integrations between Jira and third-party tools (e.g., Confluence, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines). Develop automation rules using Jira Automation and other Atlassian tools to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Training and Support: Provide onboarding, documentation, and training for Jira users across departments. Act as a point of contact for troubleshooting and process consulting.
- Reporting and Analytics: Build dashboards, extract and analyze incident and project data, and develop reports for operational insights and executive-level reporting.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between IT, the Project Management Office (PMO), and business units. Gather requirements, present solutions, and provide updates to stakeholders with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot system issues, develop workarounds or custom solutions, and contribute to long-term improvements in system usability and performance.
- ·Security: Enforce security best practices across all Jira projects. Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and maintain proper audit logs and configurations.
What We Need from You
- Technical Proficiency: Experience working with databases, JSON, and REST APIs. Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., Groovy, PowerShell, or Python) is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Expertise in Jira and Atlassian Suite: In-depth knowledge of Jira Software and Jira Service Management configuration, including custom field and scheme management, project templates, and JQL/AQL (Asset Query Language) is essential.
- Project Management Awareness: Basic understanding of project management principles and Agile/Scrum methodologies. Experience working alongside project managers and product owners is beneficial.
- System Administration Acumen: General familiarity with system administration concepts, including user provisioning, software package deployment, and file system permissions.
It Would be Nice if You Had
- Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator (ACP-JA) or equivalent certification is a plus
- Experience with Confluence administration
- Familiarity with ITIL or other IT Service Management frameworks
- Exposure to enterprise-level tools such as Insight/Assets, Jira Align, or Tempo Timesheets
- Experience managing multiple Jira instances or merging environments
